  1. Nick T says:

Do you mean shoot faster as in balls per second or shoot harder as in feet per seconds?

Cranking up the pressure willl make zero difference to how quickly it fires, it will only alter the ball velocity which will be chrono’d when you play anyway. The normal max is 300fps, my local field has lowered it to 280 and are looking at 270 next yr.

The tl-r is a mechanical marker, so there will only be a few mods that can be done to it, especially cheaply. You may be able to alter the trigger geometry to make the pull lighter which will improve things a little.

I will assume you aren’t talking about velocity, that is an easy fix using the allen wrench turning the screw in the back of the lower bolt.

As for making it shoot quicker, as in more balls per second, which is probably what a tournament player would be referring to, it is dependent on the marker. I am not familiar with the TLR specifically but I am familiar enough with spyders to be able to disassemble them, clean them, and reassemble them blindfolded (I have seriously done it).

Spyder makes all of their bodies the same, they have several styles of bolts, but they all operate the same way. It is a standard blow-back marker and this will limit your firing rate, though it is doubtful you will reach this ceiling.

Your main concern will be with the trigger frame. This is what determines when a single ball is fired. There are 2 main types of trigger frames, mechanical and electronic. If yours is mech simply find a junked out spyder of a friends or at a pawn shop that is electro and still “clicks”. Make sure that the frame lines up with the mounting screws, over the years Spyder has had 2 standards for this, one with the screw holes about .5 cm further apart than the other.

If you already have an electronic marker, figure out the rated bps and replace the trigger-frame with another with a higher rating, keep in mind the holes. Also, if you get above 13 bps you will need a force-feed hopper (not agitating) or you will chop paint.

Keep in mind also, that if you aren’t already peaking out the firing rate on your electronic trigger, simply practicing tapping your trigger fingers as fast as you can is the best way to improve your firing rate. People have markers that are capable of 50bps, but there isn’t anyone on the planet able to actually shoot that fast so what difference does it make. Most tourney players shoot around 20bps
